Instructors hold NRA Pistol Instructor certifications and bring years of professional security experience alongside active involvement in the competitive shooting community. Classes are kept small so every student receives direct, hands-on feedback throughout the course.

Where are classes held?

Classes are held at partnered indoor shooting ranges and private outdoor training facilities in and around Palm Beach County. Specific range locations are confirmed at the time of enrollment. All venues are clean, professional, and accessible to students of all experience levels.

How do I sign up for a class?

The easiest way to get started is to call or text (561) 213-2974. You can also fill out the contact form on this page and an instructor will follow up directly. Class dates, pricing, and available spots will be discussed at that time.

How far in advance do I need to register?

Registration is recommended as early as possible. Class sizes are kept intentionally small, and popular dates fill quickly. Reaching out at least one to two weeks in advance is a good rule of thumb, though last-minute spots occasionally open up.

Do you offer classes on weekends?

Yes. Weekend class dates are available and are often the most popular option for working adults. Availability varies by course and time of year. Contact us to ask about the next available weekend session.

Is there a minimum age requirement?

Students must be at least 18 years old for most courses. Students under 18 may participate in certain supervised courses with a parent or legal guardian present. Call ahead to discuss youth instruction options.

Do you offer gift certificates or enrollment as a gift?

Yes. Firearm training is one of the most practical and meaningful gifts available for a family member, spouse, or friend. Contact us to arrange enrollment as a gift purchase.

Concealed Carry Licensing (Florida CWL)

What is the Florida Concealed Weapon License and who needs it?

The Florida Concealed Weapon License, commonly called a CWL or CCW, is the state-issued permit that allows a Florida resident to legally carry a concealed firearm in public. While Florida passed permitless carry legislation in 2023, a formal CWL remains valuable for several reasons including reciprocity with other states, a documented record of training, and eligibility to carry in certain locations that require a license.

What does the concealed carry course cover?

The course covers Florida firearm laws and statutes, the legal use of force and the legal standard for self-defense, safe handling and storage of firearms, handgun mechanics and operation, conflict avoidance and situational awareness, and a live-fire qualification component. Students leave with a thorough understanding of both the legal and practical responsibilities that come with carrying a firearm.

How long is the concealed carry course?

The course is typically completed in a single day. Classroom instruction and the live-fire component are both included. Students should plan for a full day and arrive on time since the legal content covered early in class is required before live fire can begin.

What do I need to bring to the concealed carry class?

Bring a valid government-issued photo ID, a firearm if you own one (semiautomatic pistol or revolver), factory ammunition (at least 50 rounds, no reloads), eye protection, and ear protection. Comfortable closed-toe shoes are required on the range. Loaner eye and ear protection is available if needed. Dress in layers as indoor ranges can run cool.

What if I do not own a firearm yet?

Students who do not yet own a firearm can still complete the course. Rental firearms are available at the range and factory ammunition can be purchased on-site. This is also a great opportunity to try different handgun platforms before making a purchase decision.

How do I apply for the Florida CWL after completing the course?

After completing the course, students receive a certificate of completion. The application is submitted to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services either online or by mail. Required items include the completed application, the training certificate, a passport-style photo, fingerprints, and the application fee. Instructions are provided in class.

How long does it take to receive the Florida CWL after applying?

Processing time is controlled entirely by the state of Florida and is typically between 50 and 90 days from the date the complete application is received. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services provides an online status check tool to track your application.

Does a Florida CWL allow me to carry in other states?

Florida has reciprocity agreements with a large number of states, meaning your Florida CWL is recognized as valid in those states. Reciprocity agreements change periodically, so checking the current list with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services before traveling is strongly recommended. Never assume reciprocity without verifying current agreements.

Can non-Florida residents take the concealed carry course?

Yes. Non-residents can complete the course and apply for a Florida Non-Resident CWL, which is widely recognized across the country. This is a popular option for travelers, seasonal residents, and people in states where local licensing is difficult to obtain.

What is the difference between permitless carry and having a CWL?

Florida’s permitless carry law allows most law-abiding adults to carry a concealed firearm without a license. However, a CWL still provides several advantages. It allows carry in states that recognize Florida’s license through reciprocity, it provides documented proof of formal training, and it may allow carry in some locations or circumstances where permitless carry does not apply. Having formal training regardless of permit status is always the responsible choice.

Firearm Safety and Fundamentals

Who is the firearm safety course designed for?

The fundamentals course is designed for first-time gun owners, people who have received a firearm as a gift or inheritance and are unfamiliar with it, individuals who want to build a proper foundation before advancing to other courses, and experienced shooters who want to revisit and reinforce the basics with structured instruction.

What are the four fundamental rules of firearm safety?

These are covered in depth during class. The four rules are: treat every firearm as if it is loaded; never point the muzzle at anything you are not willing to destroy; keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target and you have made the decision to shoot; and know your target and what is beyond it. Every safe and responsible gun owner operates by these rules without exception.

What types of firearms are covered in the safety course?

The fundamentals course focuses primarily on handguns, specifically semiautomatic pistols and revolvers, as these are the most common for home defense and personal protection. Students are welcome to bring their own firearm for the course.

Will the safety course include live fire?

Yes. The fundamentals course includes a live-fire component on the range so students can apply what they learned in the classroom in a supervised, controlled environment. This is where grip, stance, sight alignment, and trigger control are developed through repetition with instructor feedback.

What should a brand-new gun owner know before their first class?

New gun owners should know that no prior experience is expected or required. Instructors have worked with complete beginners many times and understand the questions, uncertainties, and occasional anxieties that come with handling a firearm for the first time. Every student starts somewhere. The classroom environment is non-judgmental and the pace is set to the needs of the group.

Defensive Shooting and Advanced Training

What is defensive shooting training and how is it different from basic instruction?

Defensive shooting training goes beyond marksmanship fundamentals to develop practical skills for real-world protection scenarios. It addresses how people actually respond under stress, how to make quick and legally sound decisions about the use of force, how to draw from a holster, how to move while engaging a threat, and how to handle malfunctions under pressure. It is training built around how a self-defense situation actually unfolds rather than static target shooting.

Do I need to complete a beginner course before taking defensive shooting training?

Students should have a solid foundation in firearm safety and basic handling before enrolling in defensive shooting courses. The fundamentals course or a concealed carry class provides that foundation. If there is any uncertainty about readiness, a brief conversation with the instructor before enrolling will clear that up.

What is scenario-based training and why does it matter?

Scenario-based training places students in realistic, controlled situations that mirror the kind of encounters a law-abiding armed citizen might face. Rather than simply shooting at a paper target from a fixed position, students practice decision-making, verbal commands, movement, and force options. The research on defensive encounters consistently shows that training under realistic conditions produces better outcomes than range-only practice.

Do you cover legal use of force in the defensive shooting courses?

Yes. Understanding when the law permits the use of deadly force is not optional knowledge for anyone who carries a firearm. Florida’s use of force statutes, including the Stand Your Ground law, are addressed in the context of practical decision-making. Students learn not just how to shoot but when shooting is and is not legally justified.

What is the difference between marksmanship and defensive shooting skill?

Marksmanship is the ability to place accurate shots on a target under controlled conditions. Defensive shooting skill includes marksmanship but adds elements like speed, movement, decision-making under stress, target discrimination, and the management of physiological responses to a threatening situation. Both matter and both are developed through structured training.

Private and Group Training

What is included in a private lesson?

Private lessons are one-on-one sessions tailored entirely to the individual student. Whether the goal is building fundamental skills from scratch, correcting a specific technique problem, preparing for a qualification, or working on advanced defensive skills, the curriculum is built around that student’s specific needs. Private lessons are also a good option for students who learn better outside a group setting.

How long is a private lesson?

Private lesson duration is flexible and discussed at the time of booking. Sessions typically run between one and two hours depending on the goals and the student’s endurance on the range. Ammunition requirements are discussed in advance.

Do you offer group training for families?

Yes. Family group sessions are a popular option for households where multiple members want to build safe gun handling skills together. Training together also reinforces a shared safety culture at home, which matters especially in households with children or where a firearm is kept for home defense.

Can businesses or organizations book group training?

Yes. Corporate and organizational group training is available for security teams, property management staff, business owners, and community organizations. Curriculum is customized based on the group’s goals. Group rates and scheduling are discussed directly. Contact us to start that conversation.

Can neighborhood or homeowners associations book a session?

Yes. Community-level training sessions are available and increasingly in demand in South Florida. A session can be structured around home defense awareness, the basics of safe storage and handling, and an overview of Florida’s self-defense laws. These sessions work well as an educational event for residents who are gun owners or who are considering becoming one.

What to Bring and How to Prepare

What should I wear to a firearm training class?

Wear comfortable clothing appropriate for standing and light movement. Closed-toe shoes are required on any live-fire range, no exceptions. Avoid low-cut necklines as hot brass ejecting from a semiautomatic pistol can cause burns. A hat with a forward brim is helpful on an outdoor range for keeping brass out of the eyes.

How much ammunition do I need to bring?

For most courses, 50 rounds of factory-loaded ammunition is the minimum. For longer or more intensive sessions, 100 rounds is better. Ammunition must be factory loaded. No reloads, no steel-cased ammunition unless confirmed acceptable at the specific range. If unsure, call ahead and ask.

Can I bring my own firearm?

Students are encouraged to bring their own firearm if they own one. Training with the firearm you actually carry or plan to carry is more practical than training with an unfamiliar rental. If the firearm is new or recently purchased, that is fine. Part of the course involves familiarization.

What if my firearm malfunctions during class?

Firearm malfunctions happen and are a normal part of the training environment. Instructors are qualified to identify malfunctions, assist students in clearing them safely, and use the experience as a teaching moment. Never attempt to force a malfunctioning firearm to fire.

Is there anything I should do to prepare mentally before my first class?

Come with an open mind and leave the ego at the door. The best students at any skill level are the ones willing to receive feedback and apply corrections without defensiveness. Firearm training is a continuous process and every session is an opportunity to improve regardless of prior experience.

Safety Policies and Range Rules

What safety rules are enforced during all training?

The four fundamental rules of firearm safety are non-negotiable and enforced at all times. Any student who handles a firearm in an unsafe manner will be corrected immediately. Repeated unsafe behavior results in removal from the course without refund. Safety is the foundation of every class.

Are firearms required to be unloaded when arriving to class?

Yes. All firearms brought to a class should be unloaded and secured in a case during transport and until the instructor directs otherwise. Florida law governs the transport of firearms in vehicles and those requirements are reviewed during class.

Are there any medical conditions that would prevent participation?

Students with conditions that affect hearing, vision, grip strength, or mobility should contact us before enrolling so the course can be adapted appropriately. Firearm training is accessible to people with a wide range of physical abilities and every reasonable accommodation is made. When in doubt, reach out before registering.

Is eye and ear protection required?

Yes, always. Eye and ear protection are mandatory on any live-fire range. If a student does not have their own, loaner gear is available. Investing in a quality pair of electronic ear muffs is strongly recommended for anyone who plans to train regularly.

Pricing and Scheduling

How much do classes cost?

Pricing varies by course type, duration, and whether the session is private or group-based. Contact us directly for current pricing. What can be said generally is that the investment in quality firearm training is one of the most practical safety decisions a person can make, and courses are priced to be accessible to the community.

Do you offer payment plans?

Contact us to discuss options. Accommodating students who are committed to training but working within a budget is something that can often be arranged on a case-by-case basis.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellation and rescheduling policies are provided at the time of enrollment. Life happens and reasonable notice given in advance is always appreciated. Cancellations made with very short notice or no-shows without contact may result in forfeiture of the enrollment fee.

Do prices include ammunition and range fees?

This varies by course. Some courses include range fees in the enrollment price while others do not. Ammunition is generally the responsibility of the student unless otherwise specified. All inclusions and requirements are communicated clearly at the time of enrollment so there are no surprises on class day.
