Delray Beach Firearm Training: How It Works
Here is exactly what happens with Delray Beach firearm training, from your first text to your last shot.
- You text or send a request. Tell Mike you are in Delray Beach, what you want to learn, and the days you are free. Texts usually get a reply within the hour.
- Mike replies personally. He confirms the range, the start time, the lesson price, the range fee, and how much ammunition to plan on.
- Safety and handling first. Before any live fire you learn how the firearm works, how to load and unload it, and the range rules.
- Guided live fire. You shoot with Mike beside you, correcting grip, stance, and trigger press as you go.
- A plan for what comes next. You leave knowing what you did well, what to practice, and which course, if any, makes sense next.

Firearm Instruction for Delray Beach
Delray Beach is two very different towns stacked side by side. East of I-95 you have the downtown along Atlantic Avenue, Pineapple Grove, the Marina Historic District, and the beach neighborhoods around Seagate and Tropic Isle. West of the interstate it turns into the planned communities that line Military Trail, Jog Road, and Atlantic Avenue out toward the Turnpike, including Kings Point, the Lakes of Delray, and the Valencia and Huntington Lakes areas.
The people who book firearm training from those two halves of the city tend to want different things. Younger households downtown often want a first lesson before buying, or a concealed carry course before a road trip. Residents of the western communities are more often new owners in retirement, couples who want to learn together, or someone who inherited a handgun and wants to handle it safely. All of them want the same thing from an instructor: patience, clear explanations, and no attitude.
That is what you get here. There is no storefront in Delray Beach and no counter to stand at. You text or send a request, Mike gets back to you personally, and you meet at a range that fits your schedule and your goals.
Delray Beach neighborhoods we serve: Pineapple Grove, Seagate, Tropic Isle, Lake Ida, Kings Point, High Point, Lakes of Delray, Valencia, Huntington Lakes, Delray Dunes, Villages of Oriole, and the rest of the city east and west of I-95.

Where Delray Beach Students Train
Palm Beach Shooting Center, Lake Worth Beach
An indoor range at 501 Industrial Street, reached from Delray Beach by heading north on I-95. Indoor lanes are ideal for first lessons, fundamentals, and concealed carry qualification because the environment is controlled, air-conditioned, and quiet between strings.
Private Outdoor Range, Boynton Beach
An outdoor training space in Boynton Beach, just north of the Delray city line. This is where we run the work indoor lanes do not allow, such as holster draws, movement, and scenario drills. The exact location is shared after your session is confirmed.
Range fees are paid to the range and are confirmed before you book. Please do not travel to either range without a confirmed session.

Firearm Ownership in a Delray Beach Household
A lot of the questions Mike hears from Delray Beach students are not really about shooting. They are about living with a firearm. Where do I keep it if my grandkids visit for the season? Can I keep it in the car when I drive to the beach? What happens if I carry into a restaurant on Atlantic Avenue that serves alcohol?
Lessons leave room for those questions. Mike will explain the practical side of storage, transport, and carry, and point you to the official Florida sources for the legal details so you are reading the law itself rather than a forum post. Florida’s safe storage statute, for example, applies when a minor under 16 could gain access to a loaded firearm, which matters for a lot of Delray homes during the winter months when family comes to visit.
What Students Say
Delray Beach Firearm Training is run by Mike Kneuer and Suburban Protector. These are real Google reviews left for Suburban Protector by students who trained with Mike.
I am fairly new to shooting and was nervous about handling a gun. Mike listened to all of my concerns and brought me in with all of that in mind. He showed me everything I needed to know and made me feel comfortable throughout the lesson. He provided all of the equipment and let me shoot three different guns, explaining the difference between each. It was well worth the time and money, giving me the confidence to move forward with potentially making my first purchase. I will continue to consult with him throughout my growth with shooting.
I came in as a complete beginner with zero experience and honestly a little nervous, but the team at Suburban Protector made me feel comfortable right away. They explained everything clearly, were very patient, and focused on real-world safety and confidence. By the end of the session, I felt way more capable and informed. Highly recommend for anyone starting from scratch.
I took a Concealed Carry fundamentals course this weekend and our instructor Mike did a phenomenal job! The program was packed with info. Mike is a great teacher who clearly explains not just what we should do, but why that principle is important and effective. Each lesson was built on top of the principles from the previous lesson and then drilled on the range. I left a far more confident and proficient concealed carrier. I highly recommend Suburban Protector and any courses taught by Mike and his partner Greg.
Delray Beach Questions
How far is the indoor range from Delray Beach?
Palm Beach Shooting Center is at 501 Industrial Street in Lake Worth Beach, north of Delray Beach along I-95. For most Delray addresses it is an easy drive outside rush hour. The private outdoor range in Boynton Beach is closer for many students who live west of I-95.
Can I take a concealed carry class in Delray Beach on a weekend?
Yes. Concealed carry training is delivered as two private lessons, so it is scheduled around your calendar rather than a fixed class date. Weekend and weekday options depend on range availability, and Mike confirms the time with you directly.
Do you offer lessons for older adults in Delray Beach?
Yes. Many of our Delray Beach students are retirees, including people who have never fired a gun. Lessons move at a comfortable pace, and Mike will help you work through grip strength, recoil, or vision concerns as they come up.
Can I bring my own handgun?
Yes, and it is a good idea if you plan to carry or keep it at home. Bring it unloaded and cased. If you do not own one, a training firearm is provided for private lessons.
Is there a shooting range in Delray Beach?
Yes. Delray Shooting Center is the public range inside Delray Beach, and it is a fine place to rent a lane. Our private coaching runs at Palm Beach Shooting Center in Lake Worth Beach and at a private outdoor range in Boynton Beach, so you have an instructor beside you the whole session and, outdoors, room to practice holster work and movement that most indoor lanes do not allow.
How much does a shooting lesson cost in Delray Beach?
A private one-hour lesson is $125. Two people pay $100 each and three or more pay $75 each. The Florida concealed carry class is $250 for two private lessons. Range fees, about $20 indoors or $40 outdoors, and ammunition are paid separately and confirmed before you book.
